We have undergraduate programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Human Sciences, Health Systems Management and Social Work. We also have graduate programs in Child Life, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Counseling and Population Health Management. The goal of our highly talented faculty is to help you grow personally and professionally in careers that support the health and wellness of others in the community.

  • Hands-on learning is emphasized through internships, service learning and clinical practicums

  • Students in the Communication Sciences & Disorders program operate a community Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic on campus. 

  • The Renew / Discovery Project, supported through the social work program, is a family resource center providing services to families in south Louisiana

  • The social work program has partnered with the Department of Child & Family Services to manage the operation of the Louisiana Child Welfare Training Academy.

Mission:

The mission of the Department of Health and Human Sciences is to prepare students to be highly effective service providers in the areas of counseling, social work, family and consumer sciences, child life education, health systems management, and speech-language pathology.  Our diverse Department strives to enhance the lives and health of our students and the people of Southeast Louisiana through the acquisition and sharing of knowledge and the application of skills
