From an on-campus speech-language-hearing clinic that serves as a teaching facility as well as a service center for community members with communication disorders to a family resource center supporting families in our region, the Department of Health and Human Sciences provides many academic programs to support our students' academic and professional success.

Online Learning Opportunities
Numerous courses taught in the Department of Health and Human Sciences are regularly offered as 100 percent online. All courses are Internet supported and several are offered as blended course options (50 percent online-50 percent face-to-face) giving students much more flexibility.
Title IV-E Child Welfare Grant
The Social Work Program, through a Federal Title IV-E Child Welfare Grant, administers several projects aimed at strengthening child welfare services in Louisiana. The grant provides stipends to social work students interested in working in the field of public child welfare. In addition,the grant sponsors initiatives to recruit and retain foster and adoptive parents in the region.

Louisiana Child Welfare Training Academy (LCWTA)
The Louisiana Child Welfare Training Academy (LCWTA)is a partnership between the Department of Children and Family Services, the Pelican Center for Children and Families, and the University Alliance comprised of seven university partners within the public schools of Social Work in Louisiana. The University Alliance members include Southeastern Louisiana University (lead), Northwestern State University, Southern University Baton Rouge, Southern University New Orleans, Grambling University, Louisiana State University, and the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Discovery/Renew Family Resource Projects
The Discovery and Renew Family Resource projects, supported through the Social Work Bachelor's degree program with Southeastern Louisiana University - Department of Health and Human Sciences, is a grant program funded by the Department of Children and Family Services. The Family Resource Centers provide services to D.C.F.S. families in the Covington and Baton Rouge regions. The services include parenting education, family skills building, and visit coaching.
The mission of the program is to ensure the safety and well-being of children in a permanent home. Interns are welcome and are a much needed resource for the program. Donations are also welcome to help the families in need. Please call of information regarding donations and internships.
