HS/KIN 410, KIN 490, and KIN 710 (Internship course)

An internship is designed to be the culminating course for your degree.

Prerequisites for all students include:

  • senior standing and will complete internship in final semester

  • has been a major in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies for at least two semesters

  • a cumulative or degree GPA of 2.0 or higher, scoring a grade of C or better in all courses indicated on the curriculum sheet

  • completion of all required core courses in the degree program

  • apply for internship in the Spring or Fall semester prior to the internship

An internship requires a minimum of 160 - 320 work hours (depending on the course) at a site approved by the department and university.

Internship Requirements

Sport Management 


Internship course KIN 490 (9 Credit hours)
Complete all required courses, or all but one 3-4 hour course/lab. If a course remains, it must be taken with KIN 490. A maximum of 6 hours can be taken in addition to KIN 490.

Exercise Science

Internship course KIN 410 (6 Credit hours)
Complete all required courses, or all but one 3-4 hour course/lab. If a course remains, it must be taken with KIN 410. A maximum of 6 hours can be taken in addition to KIN 410.

If you plan on interning at a cardiac rehabilitation site, both KIN 424 and KIN 434 must be taken prior to your internship.
