Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences honored top graduates at its annual honors convocation May 1.

HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences honored top graduates at its annual honors convocation May 1. 
     Departmental awards were presented to the following: 
AMITE – Laney Courtney, Harold Leu Award in Political Science; Madison King, Martina Buck Award in History.
 
BATON ROUGE – Anthony Fleury, Outstanding Student in New Media & Animation.
 
COVINGTON – Ginina Biondini, Outstanding Student in Sculpture; Erin Martin, Theatre Design Award.
 
GONZALES – Jaione Critney, Outstanding Student in Painting. 
 
GREENWELL SPRINGS – Ashton Howard, Outstanding Student in Print.
 
HAMMOND – Chloe Williams, Outstanding Senior in English (Creative Writing).
 
HOUMA – Makayla Levay, Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in World Languages (Spanish).
 
KENNER – Cara Grant, Outstanding Student in Graphic Design; Karen Hoffpauir, Outstanding Student in Ceramics.
 
LORANGER – Mara Montecino, Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance Award.
 
MADISONVILLE – Ella Olson, Outstanding Student in Foundations.
 
MARRERO – Christian Olivier, Outstanding Senior Award in Communication.
 
MORGANZA – Adrien Doucet ,Outstanding Student in Photography.
 
NEW IBERIA – Carmen Jackson, Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in World Languages (Dual Language).
 
PLAQUEMINE – Annastasia Cox, Outstanding Student in Drawing.
 
PONCHATOULA – Mason Sibley, Marc P. Riedel Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Criminal Justice; and Autumn Smedley, Outstanding Student in Foundation.
 
PRAIRIEVILLE – Abby-Grace Zeigler, Outstanding Graduating Senior in Psychology.
 
ST. ROSE – Karaleigh Loya, Outstanding Senior in English (Language and Literature).
 
SLIDELL – Skyler Baker, D Vickers Award in Creative Writing.
 
TICKFAW – Chelsea Johnson, Outstanding Senior Award in General Studies.
 
OUT OF STATE – Emiry Brade, James Wilcox Outstanding Graduating Music Major, Lexington, Tex.; Xavier Madden, Director’s Award in General Studies, Madison, Wis.; Hannah McCord, F. Dale Parent Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Sociology, San Francisco, Calif.
 
     Also at the convocation, the college honored two faculty members with awards. Recognized were Jerry Parker, Excellence in Service; and Alison Pelegrin, Excellence in Creative Activity.
 
CUTLINES
1) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS STUDENTS (Ascension) – Southeastern Louisiana University students Abby-Grace Zeigler, left, of Prairieville and Jaione Critney of Gonzales were honored at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ May 1 honors convocation. Zeigler received the Outstanding Graduating Senior in Psychology Award, while Critney was recognized as Outstanding Student in Painting.  
 
2) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS STUDENTS (East Baton Rouge) – Southeastern Louisiana University student Anthony Fleury of Baton Rouge was honored at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ honors convocation. Fleury was recognized as Outstanding Student in New Media and Animation.
 
3) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS STUDENTS (Orleans) – Southeastern Louisiana University students Morgan Garlepied from New Orleans was honored recently at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ honors convocation. Garlepied received the Roman Heleniak Award for Social Studies Education.
 
4) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS STUDENTS (St. Charles) — Southeastern Louisiana University student Karaleigh Loya of St. Rose, was honored recently at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ honors convocation. Loya received the Outstanding Senior in English Award (Language and Literature).
 
5) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS STUDENTS (St. Tammany) — Southeastern Louisiana University students from St. Tammany Parish who were honored at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ honors convocation were, from left, Erin Martin of Covington, Theatre Design Award; Ginina Biondini of Covington, Outstanding Student in Sculpture; and Skyler Baker, D Vickers Award in Creative Writing.
 
6) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS STUDENTS (Tangipahoa) –Southeastern Louisiana University students from Tangipahoa Parish who were honored recently at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ honors convocation were, from left, Laney Courtney of Amite, Harold Leu Award in Political Science; Madison King of Amite, Martina Buck Award in History; and Chelsea Johnson of Tickfaw, Outstanding Senior Award in General Studies.
 
7) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS STUDENTS (Tangipahoa two) –Southeastern Louisiana University students from Tangipahoa Parish who were honored recently at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ honors convocation were, from left, Mara Montecino of Loranger, Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance Award; Chloe Williams of Hammond, Outstanding Senior in English (Creative Writing); and Autumn Smedley of Ponchatoula, Outstanding Student in Foundation.
 
8) SOUTHEASTERN ARTS, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HONORS STUDENTS (Terrebonne) — Southeastern Louisiana University student Makayla Levay of Houma was honored recently at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ honors convocation. Levay received the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in World Languages (Spanish).
