The History and Political Science Department at Southeastern Louisiana University will present its annual Constitution Day Lecture at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the Student Union Theatre. Titled “Separation of Powers in Recent Supreme Court Jurisprudence,” the lecture is the first of this year’s Fanfare lectures and is free and open to the public.
History and Political Science Department Head Bill Robison said Patrick Traylor, a Washington attorney and former senior official in the Trump Administration, will discuss the Supreme Court’s most recent term.
“The Supreme Court used the separation of powers principle to reassert the sole authority of the judiciary to interpret statutes, describe the scope of Presidential immunity against criminal prosecution, and challenged the widespread practice of federal agency administrative enforcement without supervision by a federal court,” Robison said.
