Important Dates and Application Deadlines

All international students are encouraged to submit the online application  and send the required documents  as early as possible to allow for timely processing of both the application and
immigration documents. Please refer to our Dates and Deadlines page for priority application dates, final application deadlines, and fees.

All students who are not citizens of the United States or who do not possess a resident
alien card are classified as International Students.
 

To be eligible for full admission to Southeastern, international beginning freshmen students must meet ALL of the following criteria:

   1. Must have completed a recognized secondary school program with a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.35.

   2.  Must demonstrate college level English proficiency by one of the methods below:

            a. ACT – 18 English                                                                                            

            b. SAT – 500 ERWS (430-440 pre 2015)                                                 

            c. Accuplacer NG – 250 Writing         

            d. Duolingo – 100                                                                  

    3. Must complete the residual Math ACT, SAT, or ALEKS to meet math placement required by one of the methods below:

             To be placed directly into College Math:                                                              

             a. ACT – 19 Math                                                                                                 

             b. SAT – 510                                                                                                       

             c. ALEKS – 35

             OR

            To be placed in a co-requisite:                                                                            

            a. ACT – 16 Math                                                                                                

            b. SAT – 430                                                                                                           

   4. Must meet language proficiency requirements buy one of the methods below:

            a. TOEFL – 550 paper-based/80 internet based/7.9 IB  

            b. IELTS – 6.5 overall band

            c. Duolingo – 100

        Note: Students who are a citizen of a country whose native language is English or if you studied in the United States for one year in an academic program this requirement is waived.

Please note that students in F1 status are not eligible to participate in degree programs that are online only.  Such programs include but are not limited to the RN to BSN program and BA in Organizational Leadership 

Transfer students with less than 18 hours of U.S. college credit:

  1. Must meet the beginning freshman admission criteria above, and

  2. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher on all college level work.

  3. Must be eligible to return to the last college or university attended.

Transfer students with 18 or more hours of U.S. college credit:

  1. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher on all college level work.

  2. Must be eligible to return to the last college or university attended.

  3. Must have completed and passed college level Math with a C or better and the      course must meet the General Education Requirements

    4. Must be eligible to enroll in English 101 (those students transferring from a non-            U.S. institution must submit ACT(18)/SAT(500ERWS)/Accuplacer                                  NG(250W)/TOEFL(80ibt)/IELTS(6.5)/Duolingo(100) scores to determine                        eligibility)

Please note that students in F1 status are not eligible to participate in degree programs that are online only.  Such programs include but are not limited to the RN to BSN program, and BA in Organizational Leadership.

Students wishing to seek a Master’s level degree at Southeastern:

  1. Must have completed a four year U.S. bachelor’s degree or a comparable degree program in a foreign country.

  2. Must have taken the TOEFL or IELTS *:

        a. Minimum TOEFL scores required – 500 paper-based, 173 computer-based,                 and 61internet-based

        b. Minimum IELTS score required – 6.0 overall band

        c. To gain admission into the MBA program, a student must have at least – 525 

            paper-based, 195 computer-based, or 75 internet-based or IELTS score of

            6.0 overall band.

   3.  Must meet minimum scores required by the individual departments on                       standardized tests (GRE, GMAT, PRAXIS, etc.)

  4.  Must meet all other requirements as set forth by the individual departments.                 Please see the Research and Graduate Programs page for further information.            Conditional admission cannot be offered to an international student on the F1 or            J1 visas.

Please note that students in F1 status are not eligible to participate in degree programs that are online only.  Such programs include but are not limited to Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing.

Note* Any student who has studied in the United States for one full year in an academic program is not required to take the TOEFL or IELTS.
