the picture is Elizabeth Scarlet Fendlason and sitting is Euna Purvis Bankston (Elizabeth’s
niece).

Third Court House built in Washington Parish, La. Built in 1897, moved across Main
Street. Replaced in 1906 by the brick building with a clock in the tower. The building
was used as a rooming house for many years until destroyed by fire. The first Court
House looked like a barn with a dirt floor down the Enon Highway. Washington Parish
became a separate parish from St. Tammany in 1819. First court held in this parish
1822 or 1823. Second Court House was a small two-story on the present Court House
square. No. picture of first or second.

Washington Parish Court House built in 1938, dedicated April 30, 1938. Torn down in
1961.The one story section was built on later at the left end.

House of John A Fendlason in Ward 9. It burned in 1940 or ’41 at the time the youngest
son John Esco Fendlason and family were living in it. Originally built by the late
Frank Brown while he was sheriff of Washington Parish in the late 1880s.
