Southeastern Louisiana University College of Business began an earnest effort in 1998
to expand the global perspectives of its students and increase its service vision
to include not only the area of Southeast Louisiana but Latin America countries and
the Hispanic community in the United States as well. With the support of institutions
like the Inter-American Development Bank, the Organization of American States, the
Office of Economic Development of the State of Louisiana, and other organizations
in the United Sates and Latin America as well.
The College of Business Latin American Business Development Initiative has already
yielded positive results for partners including government agencies, universities,
chambers of commerce and non-profit organizations in Colombia, El Salvador, Panama,
Costa Rica, Honduras, and various organizations who now work together in an expanding
network, facilitating greater integration and cooperation between all parties involved.
Much has been accomplished and much more will be. For its part, Southeastern’s College
of Business has made a commitment to advance the cultural, social, educational, and
economic development of the Hispanic community of the region as well as in Latin America.
