Educational Talent Search
What is Educational Talent Search?
Educational Talent Search is a Federally Funded TRIO Program.
The purpose of the Educational Talent Search is to assist first-generation and/or
economically disadvantaged students to continue in and graduate from secondary school
and to enroll in a postsecondary educational program. The Southeastern Louisiana University
Talent Search Program serves students in selected schools grades 6 through 12 in Livingston,
Tangipahoa, and Washington Parishes.
The program addresses academic and social needs of the junior high and high school
students by offering academic tutoring and non-academic services, (i.e., personal
and career counseling, information on available financial aid and ACT/SAT testing).
Who should apply?
-
Students whose family income meets federal guidelines for low income;
-
Students whose parents were not graduated from a college or university;
-
Students who do not meet either or both of the above criteria may still be eligible
for participation in the program based on their individual interests, needs, abilities
to benefit from the program, and availability of positions in the program.
