University Advancement

The mission of Southeastern’s University Advancement Division is to promote Southeastern, enhance its reputation, and foster volunteer involvement and private investment in the mission of the university by creating and stewarding meaningful relationships with university constituents. The division consists of Advancement Services, Accounting Services, Alumni Relations, Marketing & Communications, and Development.  While each of the offices within the division has primary responsibility for one area, each area’s work reinforces and is reinforced by the others.

The division is dedicated to building on and growing the philanthropic commitment of our many partners, the vision of President John L. Crain and the university’s leaders, and the countless alumni and friends whose support we enjoy.  Southeastern makes important contributions across a broad range of endeavors and is strengthened by the alumni, parents and friends who join us as partners in our service to our students, the community and the region.

University Advancement is led by the Vice President who serves as the chief advancement officer of the university and is responsible for coordinating all fundraising activities in the name of the university.  Working closely with the Southeastern Alumni Association, the Southeastern Foundation and the Lion Athletics Association, the Vice President collaborates with the campus and external communities to advance and support the university’s mission.

Advancement Services

The mission of Advancement Services is to ensure the responsible and ethical management of alumni and donor information, as well as to provide information services and infrastructure in support of philanthropic and engagement activities for the Division of University Advancement and Southeastern’s affiliate organizations.  We ensure that Advancement documents and processes are in compliance with all applicable laws and standards, including: IRS regulations, federal, state, and local laws, and CASE best practices and standards.

It is our goal to provide information in a timely, efficient and ethical manner while maintaining a high level of accuracy, confidentiality and security to meet the needs or our team and partners.

Accounting Services

The mission of Accounting Services is to provide accounting and finance services for Southeastern’s three affiliated organizations: the Southeastern Alumni Association, the Southeastern Foundation, and the Lion Athletics Association.

Alumni Relations

Southeastern Louisiana University has over 65,000 Alumni. Alumni Relations is focused on enhancing engagement, participation and networking among its alumni to better serve the University and each other. 

The mission of Alumni Relations, through the Southeastern Louisiana University’s Alumni Association is 

  • To preserve the bonds of friendship existing among Southeastern Louisiana University’s former students
  • To foster, preserve and perpetuate the University’s ideals and traditions so as to enhance its prestige as an institution of learning
  • To establish strong ties between the University and its former students in order to promote its educational and physical growth

Marketing & Communications

University Marketing & Communications is responsible for elevating Southeastern’s standing and reputation – in undergraduate and graduate education and through transformative community partnerships – with prospective students, alumni, educators, public and private leaders, media, employers and foundations.

Responsible for the university’s brand, Marketing & Communications works closely with all offices and positions that work to promote the university in many ways working to tie all communications efforts together to ensure that the true essence of Southeastern is visible across all platforms and audiences.

Development

The Office of Development aspires to connect alumni and friends of Southeastern Louisiana University to philanthropic opportunities that advance the University’s mission.

Private gifts from alumni, friends, employees, businesses and foundations play a vital role in supporting the mission and vision of Southeastern. The Office of Development is responsible for securing these private gifts and accepting them on behalf of the University through its Foundation, which is a 501 (c) 3.
