I know that everyone joins me in anticipating the return to in-person campus operations for the upcoming Fall Semester with traditional in-person instruction, normal classroom capacities, and a full slate of on-campus student engagement opportunities. The widespread availability of highly effective COVID-19 vaccines will facilitate the in-person experiences and interactions we have all wished to resume.

In recent months, there has been significant media attention focused on multiple high-profile cases involving impermissible sexual behavior. Particularly concerning are cases at institutions of higher education, highlighting what appear to be multiple failures of individuals, policies and processes intended to protect victims against acts of impermissible sexual behavior and to punish those who would engage in such acts.

Apparently, the Louisiana Legislature had been counting on the often-heard idiom, "Third time's the charm." In this year's third special session which ended Sunday, the Legislature finally agreed to a solution that allows the state to avert the July 1 fiscal cliff that was rapidly approaching.
