Vehicle Purchases

New vehicles must be purchased against state contracts and may only be purchased as replacements unless approval is received from the Louisiana Property Assistance Agency to increase Southeastern’s fleet size (trade-ins must be turned in to State Property Control upon delivery of new vehicles).

State contracts for vehicles are awarded by Louisiana State Purchasing any time from September to November and normally have a cutoff date in February. Because of long delivery times for vehicles and fiscal year budget cutoffs, orders for vehicles should be placed as early as possible. When state contracts are received from State Purchasing, Southeastern’s Purchasing Office sends state contract vehicle information and guidelines to the provost and vice presidents, physical plant, university police and to those who request the information.

Purchasing vehicles outside state contracts are rare and must be approved by Southeastern’s Director of Purchasing and Louisiana State Purchasing.
