Swipe Out Hunger

Swipe Out Hunger is a program to help address food insecurity on college campuses.  It allows for meal swipes to be donated from meal plans and dispersed to students in need.

Swipe Out Hunger Spring 2024 Timeline:

This year the Student Government Association has changed the format of the deadlines for Swipe Out Hunger. 

  • January 23 - Applications open to receive swipes.
  • January 23 - Swipe donation portal opens in the Get Mobile App and it will remain open throughout the semester.
  • May 10 - Swipe Out Hunger application and donations will close.

*If food resources are still needed after the application closes, please contact Dining Services or SGA for additonal steps.*

 

How to Donate Meal Swipes:

If you have one of the following meal plans, you are able to donate up to three (3) meal swipes a semester:

Resident Cub Plan

Commuter Green 200

Commuter Green 300

Commuter Green 400

Commuter Gold 200

Commuter Gold 300

Commuter Gold 400

Donating in the GET Mobile App

1. Download the free Get app. Get App

2. Click "Search all institutions."

3. Type "Southeastern Louisiana University" into the search bar, and click on it when it comes up in the list.

4. Enter your W#, including the "w" and your Southeastern email password, and click "log in".

5. Complete the remaining steps as prompted to finish setup.

6. From the home screen, click on "Donate a Meal" under "Meal Donations".

7. Choose the account from which to donate and the amount to donate, then click on "Donate" at the bottom of the screen.

Local Food Resources:

The Food Pantry

Current Southeastern students must present their Southeastern ID and may visit the pantry twice each week. During each visit, persons may obtain ten items, with a maximum of twenty items each week. Of these items, no more than three of the same item may be selected. Certain items, such as milk, bread, and toiletries, have limited quantities for each visit.

Location: McGehee Hall Room 109

Mondays and Tuesdays: 10am-12pm 

Wednesdays and Thursdays: 2pm-4pm

Fridays: Closed

Free Lunches

Lunches are provided for Southeastern students, faculty, and staff members at these locations and times, free of charge. 

Mondays

Location: Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM)

Time: 11:30 AM - 1:15 PM

Location: Presbyterian Campus Ministry of Southeastern

Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Tuesdays

Location: St. Alberts

Time: 11:30AM - 1:15 PM
