Department of English and World Languages

The Department of English and World Languages offers bachelor’s degrees in creative writing; literary studies; English, French, and Spanish Education; and French, Spanish, and dual languages (including Chinese, German, Italian, and Latin). The graduate program offers master’s degrees in creative writing, literary studies, literacy and language, professional writing, and publishing studies.

Our programs prepare students for a variety of professions, including writing and publishing, education, law, international relations and communications, film studies, arts administration, and other careers requiring a strong foundation in writing, language, and liberal arts.

Department Highlights

Personal interaction with Writers in Residence and Visiting Writers of international stature.

Each year, the Department welcomes students from all over the state to the Foreign Language Festival.

Department supports two student journals, two professional journals, and a press.
