Omicron Delta Epsilon International Honor Society in Economics

Omicron Delta Epsilon has regular meetings in which guest speakers are invited to share their insights into current economic developments. Membership in the society is open to junior and senior students who have:

  • Completed 12 semester hours of economics with an average of 3.0 or above
  • Earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above

Phi Beta Lambda - Future Business Leaders of America

Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) is a nation-wide organization that helps college students become more real-world ready by connecting them to local professionals from a variety of industries. We have noticed that who you know is sometimes as important as what you know, and because of that we have a strong focus on networking! We also offer leadership opportunities for motivated individuals. Our meetings are held every other week and we would love to see you there!

The driving goal of PBL is to train future business leaders to become contributing members of society. Through your participation as an active member, you benefit from leadership and training, contact made through networking, and opportunities to apply your knowledge through business-related activities. As a member of PBL, you can participate in the PBL sponsored activities such as competitive events, projects and ventures, career expose, conferences, leadership training, and serving as officers on the local, state, and national levels of a national organization. Here are some of the activities that we engage in helping you:

  • We want to enhance your career opportunities through network connection with business people and organizational leaders in the local, state, and national levels
  • We bring speakers to address on current issues
  • We hold annual social functions
  • We host seminars to prepare you for the transition into the workplace.

Who can join PBL?

Anyone who wants to learn more about leadership, teamwork, and network with business leaders and potential job contacts are welcome to join. The membership is open to all major.

Society for Human Resource Management

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the largest professional association in the world devoted exclusively to human resource management and is comprised of HR professionals, academics and business leaders. The Southeastern Louisiana University SHRM chapter is one of over 300 student chapters nationwide and is sponsored by the Northshore Region Human Resource Association.

Become acquainted with the field of human resources and discover available opportunities in order to become a successful HR professional. As a career-focused organization, we hope you’ll enjoy our speakers, activities, and events.

SHRM at Southeastern Louisiana University is intended to allow those students interested in the field of human resource management to go beyond the classroom and interact with human resource personnel and industrial relations professionals. Students are afforded a unique opportunity to interact with the real world of HR through guest speakers, shadow programs and internships. When you join SHRM, you get access to all previously mentioned plus opportunities to network with HR professionals from every sector, every industry, and even every country in the world.

Additionally, the national SHRM foundation offers competitive graduate and undergraduate scholarships, as well as numerous student awards for chapter members who are HR majors. Eligible students may also sit for the Human Resource Certification Institute’s basic examination and be certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) upon successful completion of the exam and after gaining the requisite work experience.

Our mission at the Southeastern Louisiana University SHRM student chapter is to provide professional and educational opportunities for our members. We will strive for excellence by providing our members with knowledge and networking opportunities, which will help them succeed in their future HR careers. We aim to establish ourselves as a nationally recognized, top-ranked SHRM student chapter.
