Circulation FAQs

 

Current Southeastern Students, Faculty, and Staff must present a valid Southeastern ID card to check out items. Other Library users must show a valid photo ID.
Please note: Past due time periods may be shortened at the end of the semester.
 

How much for lost, damaged, or overdue items?

Print and AV Materials

There is no daily overdue fine. At 30 days past due, users are charged current replacement cost of materials.

Rooms

There is a $1 hourly fine up to $60.00. At 30 hours past due, users are charged current replacement cost of room card.

Equipment – Calculators, Cameras, Headphones, etc.

There is no daily overdue fine. At seven days past due, users are charged current replacement cost of equipment and accessories.

Technology – Chromebooks, etc.

There is no daily overdue fine. At seven days past due, users are charged current replacement cost of technology and accessories.

 

How can I make sure the book I need will not be checked out before I can come get it?

Place a hold on a book through the “Book and More” and then clicking on “My Library Account.”


I’m not on campus. Can I use Sims Library materials?

Use our Document Delivery: Article and Book delivery service through Interlibrary Loan.


What if I can't find a book on the library shelves?

An Access Services staff member or student employee will come with you to find the material. If the two of you can’t find it, you’ll be offered a “Search Request” slip at the Circulation Desk. If after 10 days you have not heard from us, you can try other means of getting the materials, including Interlibrary Loan. If the book is found within the 60-day period, we’ll let you know we found it and hold it for you seven days. If it is still missing after the 60-day period, we’ll withdraw it from our collection.


What if I need a book that’s “received” but not on the library shelves?  

Use the Priority Processing Service to request materials be rush processed. Please allow 3 working days to receive the item.


What happens if I don’t comply with these policies?

Borrowing privileges may be suspended for anyone who fails to comply with policies.
